These are the people in our neighborhood…

One of the most enjoyable aspects of starting a small, storefront business has been getting to know the other businesses in the area. We just wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the great things going on in our neck of Gowanus…

Home Ec./Flirt Our friends Patty and Seryn rent out the way-back of Brooklyn Robot Foundry and use the space for sewing classes and as a design studio for their Flirt stores.

Cotta-Bene Pizza – “Sweet Lou” runs this great pizza place. They make a wonderful spinach-artichoke slice, and also run a sandwich/soup place around the corner on Carroll. Great people, great pizza.

Juice Haven – amazing having a such a great juice place just a couple of blocks away. And they are extremely nice, generous and neighborly.

718 Cyclery– need friendly bike advice from knowledgeable people?.. check out this fantastic bike shop right down the street. And it looks like no other bike shop you have ever seen with comfy couches, beautiful warm lighting and bike paraphernalia and parts displayed on the walls.

Twig Terrariums – Brooklyn Robot Foundry is to kids robots as Twig Terrariums is to terrariums. These folks garnish their unique business with love and attention, and their shop is full of cool, crafty gift ideas.

Root Hill Cafe – we send all the parents who have dropped off their kids to build robots here. Wonderful coffee, sandwiches, salad and atmosphere.

Film Biz Recycling – Amazing place! You can peruse their eccentric collection of film props, rent things like disco balls, and purchase all sorts of affordable, cool stuff.. These guys have helped us out SO much this year with materials. Wonderful neighbors.

Brooklyn Boulders – What a rock gym! Some parents go climbing while their child takes our robot classes.

Oaxaca tacos has the most delicious mexican food you could ask for. They’re a super fun brand with a great product. We’re so lucky to have them just one block away!

Brooklyn Brinery is brimming with passion for, and only for, pickles. Their humble shop tucked between Ivy Garden and Film Biz Recycling boasts an amazing selection of flavors!
We’ll add to this list as we uncover more resources in our great neighborhood.
